New here. Not new to to shooting in general, but new to a lot of the things in the "big picture". On top of my personal fire arms, I also inherited my birth fathers extensive firearm collection.. I have pretty much logged and inventoried every firearm we possess, and now I amattempting to research them in my free time. Serial numbers and identifying the manufacture dates are what I am working on (or trying to) at this point. first on my savage list is one that I tend on passing down to my grandson soon. Savage arms model 64 (F?) . serial number 2049682. has a R7 circled on the barrel, Just behind the rear site. I can find sites to identify older models by serial, but can seem to find anything for the newer types. Is there a trick to decoding these? or is there a site that I can look it up on that I am just not seeming to fiind? this probably going to be my first of many, just figured I would save myself the frustration and ask now. Thanks for taking the time to read this.... -Taz

RevTaz - I have a 64TR that I bought in 2015 and the SN is 23470XX, so yours shouldn't be much older. Maybe 2010 or so ?? I don't know annual production counts but I believe the Savage rimfires are all built in Canada. It prob says on the barrel ?
Mine is in the green synth stock, came with Only mounting bases (not grooved) and came with a 'flash hider' for those 'secret missions' Ha! A good thin is that the hider is quite substantial and weighs several ounces so probably reduces barrel whip ? I've mounted a red dot and light (gotta color that green-velcro strip) and it looks very "tac" ;-P
