I have an Axis in 350 Legend that I bought two years ago. I replaced the bolt handle with the threaded one from Glades Armory the first year , shot about 20 rounds thru it with no issues. Over the summer I replaced the trigger with an Accutrigger. This fall I swapped scopes on it and during sight in I had about 4-6 misfires. I checked the primers and all had marks from the firing pin and the was no pattern the problem. Yesterday I shot a deer which required a follow up shot and had two consecutive misfires before finally dispatching her. Today I tore down the bolt but couldn’t find anything wrong. I’m stumped, and body else have issues or suggestions.

Your striker spring may be the problem.

Try this.

I have another Axis in 22-250 and never had an issue. Would it be feasible to try swap bolts and see if the problem goes away, or does a gunsmith have to do the swap ?

If you swap bolts, you must verify headspace first. But you can swap firing pin internals to verify. I’m willing to bet this is the problem. Seen it several times. Need to either load the spring more via a spacer, or replace the spring & go to the duel spring setup with spacer.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. You wouldn’t happen to know if an accutrigger from a 110 will fit an Axis do you ?
