1st , "why do it" I am curious about taking a .222 for a change over to .222 magnum? I know the first answer why do it. can't explain, I just like to do different things, the biggest obstacle I would think would be the twist, most likely I would take a 16ga over 222 to the 222 magnum, I have several combos and this is interesting to me.

How many fps gain would that be?

It’s a modest 200-300fps over 222 Rem. Slightly above 223, 50fps or so. However, the extra case & neck allows for even greater velocity gains. However, there are speedier 22’s available.

I love the 222, fun round to shoot and soooo accurate. With that said I think my Rem 722 in 222mag may be the most accurate factory gun I have ever had. Love that cartridge.

If your using a scope on your combo gun it should work. If your using the factory fixed sight you might have a problem with changing point of impact. You are working on an irreplaceable barrel any mistake can be VERY expensive. Do you think that you will gain enough to make the project worthwhile. The little 222 Rem is a dandy cartridge I use mine on coyote out to 300 yards. If you think you need more, I'd really look into a different combo gun. There are plenty out there in 5.6x50R Mag(mine is a Bernardelli) and 22 Sav Highpower/5.6x52R(mine is a BRNO 305).
