Savage 111 Trophy hunter changing to a Boyds wood stock.

SO I am normally quite good with this sort of thing having done all kinds of stock conversions even building a couple of my own stocks in the past. But this ones got me all hung up.

I have a Savage 111 Trophy Hunter in 30-06 std plastic stock Mag release on the Magazine,

I want to switch to a Boyds Walnut stock which will require bottom metal. Does anyone with experience know what and where to order from to do this? I can inlet anything that there is enough wood to fit.

I would like to end up with the type of magazine that uses the Mag release on the bottom metal similar to whats in this photo.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. I am building a .35 Whelen from this receiver using an E.H. Shaw barrel in Magnum profile and 22" long.

Sorry. Didn’t see your thread. Is it Top or Bottom bolt release. A few options for TBR. Just search for bottom metal for Savage long action 111, & choose the style you want. My preference would be Accurate

If you have Bottom bolt release (BBR), PTG is your only option.

Sorry, did you need help with the stock? The stock is ordered based on Center or Stagger feed. (Newer or older basically) But all the Long Actions have the same screw length.

Most parts can be bought directly from the Savage Arms Parts Department at 413-568-7001 between 9:00am and 4:15pm EST. There are certain parts that are restricted that will not be sold. Please contact the parts department to verify the part you want to order is available to purchase. Have your rifle serial number available.

Since your rifle is a Savage 111 LA bottom bolt release center feed (top picture), you will need to order a metal Savage LA center feed magazine frame assembly (surround), a metal Savage LA magazine bottom cap and a metal bottom bolt release trigger guard. These parts are not restricted. These parts will fit a Boyds wood DBM stock for a Savage LA center feed action. Remove the plastic (Axis-style) bottom cap from your current magazine and replace with the metal one you order.

THANKS GUYS I now need to get in gear and order some post Christmas toys So I can get this project done before I get dragged back to work in March. I drive dump truck for a paving co. Not a lot of work in the pouring rain in the dead of winter LOL.
