Hey G, what die set are you using for the 25 30-30, I wish you'd stop.... not really
as i recall, you just got a 6.5x30-30 Ackley, so you NEED that .25 version to go with it. :p And, to be thorough, a regular 30/30 ackley as well.
dunno if i've just been lucky with those, but the .25x30-30ackley seems to be pretty agreeable to work with...my 15" barrel is a fine shooter & i really should take it out more often, but i've had carbine fever the last few years. typical groups with my pistol barrel, at the 100 yard line:

Carbine fever has its grip on me lately too, 30-30 AI 6.5 30-30 AI are in the bag so may as well have the 25, My eyes and neck are getting tired of pistol barrels

Going with 360 DW brass?
Attractive gun, Gerald. Looks like Georgia Jim woodwork.

BT yes 360 DW brass and I am sending in to have rimmed also a 300 BO and my own version of 338 BO Whisper ish ?? I have a 256 win I was thinkin on sending in to have the chamber reamed to 360 length also, But now because G had to bring up the 25 30-30 AI I be thinkin maybe just have it chambered to the AI, I am so glad I do not have a lathe I would be wearing out barrels just re chambering them every time I read another LOOK WHAT I DID

Another beautiful example of wood on contenders - jealous here! I do have a nice wood carbine stock and forend, but I am always afraid to take them outside - plastic for me
I could see getting into the 25-35 - I like the balance of 25 calibers between killing power, trajectory, low recoil (I have 2 kids that I do not see a need to burden with the recoil/ noice of 270, 3006, 308, etc).
We have 4 250 Savages we hunt with, No. 1's, Ruger RSI, Savage "custom", Ruger 77.
Would not mind exploring the 25-35 sometime in a contender carbine.

G-
Great story. I am glad to see your affliction for quarter-bores continues. I believe it was you who relieved me of a 24" 25x30-30AI close to 20 years ago. That one loved both the 85 and 100 grain Ballistic Tips and Re-15 powder.

Bobby...it was my fine results with that barrel that started my fondness for .25's in the TC's, and they have performed very well on game, without much recoil.
