I'm just curious how many of the guys migrating over own a Striker or a S P built off a Savage action.

I had a Super Striker several years ago but the grip was a little small for my hand so I swapped it for something else. The Savage was a fantastic shooter with it's original .308 barrel or a .243 barrel that was a Savage rifle barrel I cut at 17 inches and re-crowned. I would like to have another Striker at some point.

I have a 7/08 and another that started life as a 243. Both really great shooters. I have a Mcgowen 250 AI barrel that’ll go on what was the 243, eventually.

Should have the stock for the 7/08 back soon. Sent it off to be hydrodipped in multicam camo.

Not a migrater but I do have 2 Savage Strikers. One is a 516 that I built into a 444 Marlin, the other is a 510 (I believe) that is currently getting ready for a new barrel (of yet to be determined chamber) but has worn a 243 and 30-06 barrel while it has been with me. I also converted that one to rear grip and machined out a "chasis" stock from a bar of 7075 Aluminum. The 444 I use for deer hunting and the other is just a toy when I have time.

444 is not something I’d ever visualize someone chambering for a Striker. Dang.

510 is the blued model. I haven’t had one of them yet.

It's a fun one. Every Deer so far with it has been 1 shot and it falls over. So far have taken all my deer between 155yds and 245yds. I think that is about the limit of the cartridge for me.
Here is a link to a thread from when I built it. It now wears a different brake on it with dual 11/16" ports facing straight up. Really Helped with the muzzle flip off the bipod and recoil is about like a 4in 357 revolver.

And yes the other one is a blued model, I couldn't remember if it was a 510 or 511 for the blued ones.

I had one of the last 516 Striker's to leave the factory when they discontinued them in 2008. Effie was nice enough to get one assembled and shipped out to me from of spare parts they'd set back for warranty repairs. Originally came with a .243 barrel, but I swapped it out for a 22-250 barrel to make it a g-hog and pd gun. Topped it with a Burris 3-12x handgun scope, slapped a Harris 6-9" benchrest bipod on it and called it good.

Part of me wishes I still had it, but in reality I never really took it out much so it mostly just took up space collecting dust. Ended up selling it to someone here on the forum around 2013 or so.

I will say though that it shot pretty darn good! Here's a 5-shot group from 100 yards with Speer 52gr pills

Thanks J. Baker for a picture of your group and the load info.

I have a 510f Striker in 22-250 which I purchased a few years ago. By the time I bought it I already had 4-XPs, 1- rear grip built off a Savage PTA, and more TC frames & barrels than I care to admit. The reason I purchased the striker was because it was like new, dirt cheap, and I wanted to get some empirical experience on the trigger that everyone complains about. The first several times that I fiddled with that trigger were disgustingly disappointing and I just shuffled it off to the side. Last winter one of the guys from this board emailed some tips and pointers plus mailed me 3 different diameters of spring wire for a new torsion spring. It made all the difference in the world. Its not a XP trigger at 2-10 oz but I do have a trigger with no take up, no creep, and breaks crisply at 38 oz. I have to have the bolt open to engage the safety but it slides off easily with the bolt closed. I have a 3-12 Burris in signature rings mounted on it.

I've got 3 and several barrels. I just switch barrels as I need them. Dropped a small doe with my 6BR last week. After making sure every thing was just right for 200 yards she shows up at 53 yards.

Be mindful of those particular Speer bullets with the 22-250. At the speed the 22-250 will push them they don't always make the trip as some join the grey mist club at about 30-40 yards. In the group that I posted I've never been 100% certain if all 5 made the trip. There's 4 definite holes, but there's also several small "freckle" holes in the target (3 in the white are clearly visible in the image above). So either the 5th shot doubled one of the holes or that bullet fragmented in flight and a few pieces of shrapnel made those smaller holes. The world may never know. lol

I almost picked up a 22WMR Striker. At the time it didn't really make sense, so I got another barrel for my Contender. I like the thought of a bokt action SP, but have never found one I liked enough to cough up the dough.

I've got a .223 Striker in my menagerie of SP's.
I have been a member and occasional poster here as well since I have several other Savage firearms.

I own a few Strikers. A 22-250, 243, 7-08, 308, 7mm BR, and a 300 WSM. Most
have cut down rifle barrels or custom barrels with a muzzle brake. Am carrying the 308
in the woods this year.
