This pistol holds a tremendous amount of meaning for me. I built this one from scratch, but more importantly, this is the first firearm I built after my accident, which left me disabled & partially paralyzed. The Lord used this in my life while struggling in darkness & learning to live again.

I used all high end internals. Almost every part: hammer, trigger, sear, mainspring housing etc.,& even down to the pins, I used Nighthawk Custom parts. Figured if their parts are good enough for $3500+ 1911’s, they’d be ok for mine I guess, LOL! I built this specifically to handle 450SMC/45Super. 185jhp’s @ 1350fps in a semi auto will wake you up!

Appreciate it mrk1500. Here’s another pic.. thought I had individual pics, but lost them. This is that one I posted above in the middle, however, it’s joined by the 1911 on top which is a reproduction of the Colt Combat Elite.(one of my all time favorites!) It has a factory Colt Combat Elite Slide & barrel. This was the first 1911 I built and gifted to my father forFather’s Day 2010. But I had built this one with BOTH of my hands, as it was years before my accident & being paralyzed in my left arm/hand. My younger sister now owns it, inherited after our dad passed. The bottom specimen is my son’s Ed Brown, the first 1911 he bought a few years ago. This pic was taken with all three after I had just replaced the Trigger, Hammer, Sear, & Slide Stop in & did a full trigger job on my sons Ed Brown. (Came out reeeal nice. Ed Brown does a fantastic job, stock… I just do it better:cool:)

I have a couple of 1911's also. RIA in 10 mm is my favorite. Very accurate gun right out of the box and shoots my favorite handload 2" above POA at 25 yards without adjusting the sights. My 9Mm feels like shooting a 22 and the 6" long Springfield Target is a joy to shoot, but heavy. I have a RIA ultimate target on the way in 45ACP that has not arrived yet and like a big kid waiting for a new toy!!

Dave I do not have a photo link. Can you post picture here directly from my computer? I also do not have a cell phone to take pictures, old and technologically challenged I guess.

Sorry J, just saw this. If you have pics on your computer, it’s very easy to 3rd party host. Go to this site: https://imgbb.com/ You don’t need to sign up or anything. From there you can upload directly from your computer. Once the photo(s) are uploaded, click an image, then scroll down to the “BBCode” link & click “copy”. Then past that link here in your response post. The BBCode makes the image post directly.

1911 Officers .45 ACP. Heavy, but still a favorite concealed carry. Have added thinner G10 scales since this image (that match my Benchmade 950 Osborne knife) but it's still a heavy SOB (weighs about twice what my S&W M&P 9 Shield weighs and has three fewer shots).

But I love her. Have carried her hunting, fishing and boating since 1983. Accurate and rugged. King Gold Cup trigger, ceramic stoned action, Brown extended slide release and guided spring follower, Bullseye spring set and polished ramp. A real trooper.

My advice is to carry a striker gun. Won’t find another who loves the 1911 more! I build them myself! And I love working on them, modifying, slicking them up. Give me one with a gritty, 8lb trigger and I’ll turn it into a 2-3lb with nil take-up, “glass rod break” & rock wall overtravel stop, that feels like it’s riding on ball bearings. Still, I carry a 9mm striker gun (I also built) with 12+1 rds.

Don’t be a Tex Grebner!:biggrin-new:

Thank you brother. Oh yeah. Like 450Smc, 10mm is another fun round. Either one will drive a 180-185gr bullet at 1300-1350fps and produce over 700ft.lbs.

It's interesting how the 1911 platform has evolved to accommodate various calibers while maintaining its signature style and functionality. If you're considering adding a new 1911 to your collection, you might want to explore the Dan Wesson Commander Classic in .45 ACP. This model, which is compliant with California regulations, offers some impressive features, including an 8+1 capacity, a 4.25-inch match-grade barrel, a forged stainless steel frame with a beavertail, a serrated stainless steel slide, and a brushed finish.

For more details and to see if it's the right fit for you, you can check it out on uspatriotarmory.com (https://uspatriotarmory.com/product/dan-wesson-01912-commander-classic-ca-compliant-45-acp-81-4-25-match-grade-barrel-forged-stainless-steel-frame-w-beavertail-serrated-stainless-steel-slide-brushed-finish-diamond-checkered-cocob). It's always exciting to explore new additions to the 1911 family, and I'm sure this one won't disappoint.
