Hi folks! Need some info. I just noticed that the face of the bolt in my .300 wsm protrudes about 1/8" into the chamber opening (where you insert the cartridges from the top) when the bolt is opened all the way. I looked at my Savage .22-250 and .243 and when you open those bolts all the way, the bolt face is flush with the rear of the chamber opening. I did compare the length of all the bolts and the .300wsm is longer by the same amount of the protrusion into the chamber. When I put the bolts from the .22-250 &.243 into the.300 wsm they fit flush with the rear of the chamber opening. Is this normal?? (things like this drive me nuts). THANKS!

I have asked this same question here and did not really find what I was looking for. I have a model 11 and noticed the 300 wsm bolt is 1/8" longer than my 223 bolt. What I was wanting was a barrel/bolt swap using a 223 barrel and the bolt out of my stevens 223 in the model 11 for target shooting. But the 223 bolt is shorter and I did not know if there would be a safety concern.
