Really like my Mk. II BV, but inserting mags is an exercise in frustration. Got to be aligned just right, and even then, they want to fight me going in. These are nearly new factory 5 rd. mags, not aftermarket, is there anything I can do to make inserting them smoother and less hassle? Thanks!

Hey Dave - I've had a 64 for a few years and felt that frustration. My solution was to 'open' the mag-well with a file. I did the bottom metal first, then went at the plastic stock. Even if you have a wood stock you can do this and if you have a remel it can go faster, just don't take off too much and weaken it. I also tapered the mag-well itself.
And as you see, I 'fixed' the mag release by drilling a hole, inserting a piece of wire, and covereing it with JB-weld. sorta bubba but it works fine, now for about 5-6 years. They make repl parts but I like doing little things like this.
Good luck,
Ed
