I'm new here also, and not new to .22 rifles, although it's been almost a hundred years since I picked one up. I'm 75, retired, a hobbyist woodworker, and interested to add a .22 to my collection...plinking, target practice, small game hunting, if it came to that. Last time I picked one up was at about age 14...a single shot. I've sort of set my (very old) eyes on a Mark II, FV-SR, but no purchase as of yet. I've done a lot of reading and video watching, but am hoping to pick up an even more complete education here, before plunking down SS funds, perhaps this Fall. I'm familiar with semi-auto pistols, and shoot my Ruger 5.56 when funds allow. But a small bore rifle is like starting all over again.

Welcome to the forums. Im brand mew here too, but see you got no love from the veteran members. I hope to learn just like you are hoping.
Im in the process of purching a 2001 111 .270. Its all original and in need of a couple upgrades.

Might get a .22 eventually for small game like squirrel and rabbit. Would love to start hunting those. I am getting this .270 for deer.

@Daddysharkof2, mom was from Celeste, N of Dallas, near Greenville. I spent many summers in that black dirt, cotton-growing country. Thanks for the welcome, and I hope you have that .270 by now. Enjoy!
