Anyone have a "honey hole" for these Mags ? Thought I'd pick up a few extra's just to have , so I went internet shopping :censored:

Average $$ for a 5 round is $ 33.50 and $$ 38.00 for a 10 Rd. and that's W/O the S&H.

That's pretty much the normal price for polymer AICS mag's these days. Still far more wallet friendly than the $70-100 for metal AICS mags. Have you priced a standard Savage-style 3-4 round mag lately? Even they're running $40-50 most places. If you really want sticker shock, look up the cost of a Browning T-Bolt rimfire magazine. IIRC I paid almost $60 and that was before the craziness that started up again in 2020.

Unfortunately magazines are high markup item for manufacturers and retailers. Back in the days when I worked retail, the chain I worked for actually sold TV's, VCR's and DVD players at a 5-15% loss, but all the accessories (cables, connectors, splitters, blank video tapes, etc) were marked up 200-300%. It's the same with firearms - the guns themselves have a very small markup on them at the retail level, but all the accessory items to make use of them have a much higher mark-up. In other words, they don't worry about making a large profit on the one big-ticket item sale because they know they can make a LOT more in the long-run from the much higher volume of sales that will come from the much cheaper companion products.

Car companies do the same thing - just look at the ridiculous prices (compared to aftermarket options) for OEM addons like running boards, roof racks, etc. The auto makers can get away with such inflated prices on such accessories because most people would prefer to finance the cost of those accessories in with their vehicle purchase rather than pay for them out-of-pocket separately after they've purchased the vehicle.

Kinda makes me wish I had stocked up on magazines in the old days, when I could pick them up for free. I had at least 30 each 1911 and M16 mags laying around.

I have a 110 Storm in .223. Does anyone know if there is an AICS magazine that fits these guns?

Of course. This one: https://mdttac.com/223-mdt-metal-aics-magazine/

This one: https://redhawkrifles.com/accurate-mag-short-action-223-dssf-aics-compatible-detachable-box-magazines/

And if you prefer polymer: https://magpul.com/pmag-10-556-ac.html?mp_global_color=118

And this: https://mdttac.com/223-mdt-polymer-aics-magazine/

Although, just to be clear, these don’t fit the stock rifle. AICS is an acronym for Accuracy International Chassis Systems. Based out of England, the company pioneered this pattern of magazines. Your 110 Storm is equipped with a Savage proprietary pattern magazine & is not interchangeable with the AICS style. To switch, you would need to replace the Bottom Metal on your Stock, or get a Chassis that accepts the AICS style. (Most chassis do already.)

Dave, thanks so very much. While not the paragon of consistency, the factory magazines have done an acceptable job of late. I was hoping to find an after market that would fit without modifications to the rifle, but alas….

Only those aftermarket 10 rounders with factory Savage profile that have come up from time to time. Although they are incredibly expensive, and also out of stock. No, my vote is AICS. I use mostly the Magpul polymer mags. Love them, & I can load out to 2.850” COAL max with my 260 Rem loads. When I rebarrel next, I’m going to 260AI and I’ll switch to the metal mags with no binder plate allowing 2.960” COAL.
