I picked this up, in 6.5 Creedmoor last week. I wanted a chassis gun for shooting 500-800 yards and this fit the bill since I couldn't afford what a Tikka would have cost. Maybe later!:p I put a Arken 6-24X50 scope on it and so far it's a terrific pairing. I put 20 rounds through it this week, 5 to zero the scope and 3 5-round groups. While its not sub-MOA I thought it was pretty good for a first effort. I cleaned the barrel with copper solvent every five shots.

This target has a 5 1/2" diameter.

1st group. That's a stray .223 hole in the lower left from the target to the left. That top one is really a flyer - I was pretty consistent if not particularly accurate that day.

3rd group

I was pretty happy with the result, can't wait to take it back out to the range next week.

Welcome. Good stuff. Those groups are respectable. Consistent. However, just let that rifle settle in. Give it 100 rounds, & try some different kinds of ammo. It’ll do better, I’m sure. And of course, think about reloading. Especially if you are newer to this.

Savages very often outshoot Tikkas. Don’t get consumed with the “SMOOOV as butter” Bolt nonsense, LOL!

Thank you. I do reload, mostly handgun and some 5.56.

Thanks. I do, but not 6.5. I haven't been able to find large rifle primers in a couple years. I lucked into a few thousand small rifle and pistol primers last year.

Welcome to the group.

Thanks. I'm in Central Texas too, where are you located?

Yeah, I hear ya on the primers. Just gotta search constantly! They have been around here & there as of late. But yes, it’s been tough. I actually may start recharging my primers as as well.

Welcome Ernest. Hornady brass, 41.5 g 4350 with a 140 class. We could do better with Lapua but why if you don't need it. Work on seating depth and you should have something to brag about. Stop cleaning so much. Use Wipeout if you must clean so often. You want some copper in a savage barrel. This works for me but there are many ways to skin el gato.
