I have 3 Savage model 12 target actions all in Savages F-class laminated stocks. Thinking of using my .223 and shoot FTR 600 yard. What are some of my drop in fit stock options. It is right bolt left port. Thanks for your opinions. I do not want to alter the current stock.

IIRC the only difference between F and FTR was use of bipod instead of front rest. Rear is a bag. There might be a max weight but I'd have to look it up.

I know the difference in classes I have shot in both for the past 6 years just looking for possible stock options. Thanks

I don’t get it:confused: You just said you are looking for stock options, but I your opening post you said you do not want to alter the current stock. Sooo??

Now I do. He has a stock for F class he does not want to change. So, he needs an FTR class stock.

Ahhhh. :redface-new:

Well, I’m a Chassis guy so that is what I would use. Not to mention, the Chassis now are the best “drop in” stocks there are. The better ones don’t even need bedding of any kind, with the exquisite machining. Really just pick a style you like & done deal.

But then, I no longer compete. And I never did compete in any F-class comp, so whaddoIknow?;)

Chassis guy here. MY MDT Oryx, I machined a new fore end and bag riding rudder
stock. At 19 lbs. I shoot it in unlimited UBR. Being extra long would make it perfect
for F-class. But I have the luxury of machinery at my disposal. Dave may still have
pics. Been meaning to pic up one of Fred Moreo stocks and do my own make over.
Fred's stocks are short and could use more length in the fore end for F-class. An
addition like mine, or similar to what McMillan uses would be the nut's.

I guess I should have worded it better, just looking for some brand name options, I can always put a sling stud on the bottom of the F-class stock and throw a bi-pod on it. Thanks

Your wording was fine once I took the time to really read it :)

I made high master in midrange F-TR using a choate tactical stock/Savage target action. Fairly cheap option to get started.
