Is it possible to make 7MM-08 brass from 243 brass?

Yes. Not sure if it would end up a little short or thin neck. I'd try one and find out if you have no other use for them. If you can it wouldn't hurt to anneal the necks either. Back in the day I made all of my 7mm-08 from 7.62 brass. Not annealed and didn't need to turn the necks either.

How would you go about it? I think using a 7MM-08 die to go in one step would be quite a challenge. It does seem that the neck would get thinner too but that probably is not a big concern. If I could find some brass I might might just buy some but I do have a lot of 243 brass and a lot of it has not been reloaded more than once and I can't seem to find any 7MM-08 brass. It would be a shame not to use it.

Same here and still have a bunch today.

Use a tapered expander like is used for making 7mm TCU from 223. Its pretty easy the key is lube the inside of the necks well or you will collapse the shoulder. I learned that the hard way.

You mean a special attachment for a 7MM-08 die? Could you ive a little more information please.

The neck sizing button. There are different brands.

Honestly, I prefer the solid Tungsten buttons.

That looks like it would work but is that only for a Redding die? I have Lee. Would there be anything for Lee like that?

Lee are proprietary, but theirs is already like that. This will work. See how it’s already tapered. https://www.precisionreloading.com/cart.php#!l=LE&i=SE2315

So all I have to do is buy a Lee 7MM-08 full length die? I imagine a guy will have to be very careful and also use plenty of lube when doing this. It is good to know I don't have to buy a Redding die, while no doubt of exceptiolnal quality, quite a bit more money than Lee and also I would have to buy the special button. This won't be as bad as I thought or at least not on paper.

I don’t know if that is be factory style or an upgrade for their dies. I don’t have have Lee dies, except for 223. All my others are Redding. But I’d say for the few bucks it, grab one of those I linked along with a 7mm-08 FL Die. Never hurts to have an extra rod anyway. And yes, plenty of lube. Don’t know what you use. I like Imperial myself. Very slick stuff and lasts a long time! Same here and still have a bunch today. I still make all my 7mm/08 brass from the large supply of 308 brass I have.

I disassembled one of my Lee dies and it has the long, tapered expander. I think all I need is the Lee die and lots of lube. What is the slickest lube I can get?
