Just bought a 110 in 308 with the bottom bolt release and accu-trigger. I like everything about it except removing the bolt is a royal pain in the azz and takes some getting used to! Shot a few rounds through it Tuesday and after just 6 rounds, the Bushnell 3X9 scope went belly up, crosshairs became an "X" instead of a cross. Mounted another scope (3X12X40) and will try it again today. Got it for $300 in a private sale. Previous owner never could warm up to it, accuracy was all over the place for him. Round count was only 11 rounds when I got it along with the partial box of Federal ammo.

I guess you just found out why the previous owner’s accuracy was all over the place, huh? LOL! Regardless, that’s a good buy. $300 for a 110, in this current state of Joe Biden inflation! Damn good deal!

Good snag! Bet it shoots with the new scope.

Shot fine until the base screw loosened up! That ended shooting for that trip. Kinda sux because I have to drive 55 miles to our club range. Got the loose screws taken care of and scope remounted/bore sighted. Funny thing was I checked the mount when I replaced the broken scope and it was ok then? Definitely won't budge now. Back to the range tomorrow. When everything works right, it's a damned good shooter. I've been using cast loads in this rifle exclusively, 160, 170 and 180 grain plain and poly coated gas checked pills.

Another cast bullet addict in here? Welcome. And a PC'er as well. The world is getting smaller :)

I do have to admit I shoot jacketed every now and then, but, the majority of mine are 210gn PC bullets. I finally gave up on consistent sub-MOA groups with them. I always seem to get one bullet (our of 5) that will drift out a little.

Shot some 160 grain FNCG bullets this morning. Got em from "Matt's Bullets. Best load was IMR 4227/37.9 grains, 2224 fps, ES-21, SD-8, FC brass and WLR primers. .874" 3 shot groups at 100 yards. Still have to test some 180 grain FNGC poly coated. I had the same thing happen with the 160s today, if one round hadn't impacted 1/4" away from the group, it would have been about 1/2" group C to C. Temps here the last few days have been hitting the century mark. We have at least 10 more days forecast for 100 degrees and higher. I wrap up my shooting around 11 AM and head home before the heat mirage gets really bad.

$300.00 is a sweet deal. you will not lose anything on this one.

I now have 3 Savage 223. First was an Axis with a 3-9 Konus Pro. and a soft case. Bought it used local and it had about 40 rounds thru it. Paid $325.00 for it. Second was a Model 10 blind mag stagger feed, TBR, I found on Armlist local GS. No scope, no history but it look new. $340.00... Last was a Model 11, 243 that was purchased as a barreled action with the intention of barreling it in 6BR. Instead I was able to locate a new 223 Model 12 Varmint barrel that had never been fired. It is on the receiver now with a Boyds At-One Thumbhole and a Burris 4.5-14X44.

Am now thinking of selling the Axis to replace it with another Axis in 6ARC.
