As I was leaving home at 3:30 PM to head back down to the coast for the week, Momma decided she'd go sit in the deer blind behind the house.

Wearing my bib overalls, my jacket, with my rifle, and in my blind...

Rifle is a stagger-feed, accu-trigger .308 10FP w/ 20" heavy barrel & Leupold 3-9x40 scope, mounted in a B&C DuraMaxx stock.

Ammo was factory Remington 150 gr Core-Lokt PSP.

I estimate the range to the shot at about 30 yards.

Congrats to her and that looks like a nice healthy Buck, those horns are thick. It is great to see anyone enjoying being outdoors and hunting.

I remember that smiling face. You should have had her using that 7 ultra mag ammo I dropped off with her when I was there. :)

I don't know how old this buck is, but it is only "barely" legal by MS standards - the left main beam was 14 inches long.

Our area of MS requires a minimum spread of 10 inches or a minimum main beam length of 13 inches (one beam).

Greg,

I FINALLY got a new stock (B&C DuraMaxx), a set of rings, and a new scope for it.

I've shot it a few times and feel it's no worse than my 45/70. It is just so overkill for the areas I have to hunt around here.

I half-way want to sell/trade it for something more useful for my area, but I have no idea what do with it and would probably regret it if I got rid of it. All of my free time is currently spent Cowboy Action Shooting.

This deer was killed at bout 30 yards with my 308. I just scoped her 7-08 and only need to sight it in.

LOL I think she would have a lot less bad words for you with a 7-08.

Kids show any inclinations?

Kids show any inclinations?

I keep hoping...

My youngest has NO love for guns or hunting. Made a crazy facebook post about people needlessly killing animals for sport after her momma killed this one and took it to the processor. I just don't get it.

My oldest daughter has started to come around a bit. She has at least practiced shooting with my Cowboy Action stuff. She's also shot a few of my other pistols (.45's, .40's, & 9's). She doesn't show any inclination to hunt yet, but she's not against others doing it.
