Doing some initial load testing with the new 300 BO build.

Virgin Starline brass prepped per usual, multiple bullet weights/powders/charges etc- all running into the same issue.

Load a round into the chamber, it fires no problem, lift the bolt, pull it back and the case come out of the chamber but then just gets dropped- no ejection.

Have tried running the bolt slow/fast/easy/hard and no difference- and again no difference over a spectrum of loads.

No hard bolt lift- no issue extracting at all but the fired case just gets dropped.

Cannot see any issues with the ejector itself, no damage, spring has tension etc.

Here is where the cases end up:

Rifle was originally a 223, had a T&T done by SSS but otherwise no work to the bolthead, extractor or ejector.

No marks on the case head to indicate any issue.

Thoughts?

Call Fred and get one of his Ejectors mattri. This is a known issue.
This shows the difference between stock and the SSS Ejector.

Oh.. and make sure you have the larger bearing ball under the extractor. A 9/64” (.140”) https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Precision-Stainless-Bearing-3-57mm/dp/B07QC135BH/ref=sr_1_3?crid=19QM7ZOEEZCWI&keywords=bearing+ball+9%2F64”&qid=1652763554&sprefix=bearing+ball+9%2F64+%2Caps%2C63&sr=8-3

Or you could just go with this kit, which is what I use.

Guess I'll have to- for all the various Savages I've owned this is the first time I've had any issues. Thanks for the link Dave.

I don't have an issue with mine. I don't know why. It all stems from the length of the case. I did shorten my ejector spring one coil and and I pull back relatively quickly. Good Luck.
