included scope mount screws are too small - monstrum, dnz, etc

I've purchased three scope mounts on amazon all claiming to be the right size for my .308 axis 2 and all of the base screws are too small to thread in. Can anyone tell me what the mount screws should be? Is it 6-48? DNZ 52200 and Monstrum SAV-01 both came with screws too small to thread into the barrell.
