Went to sight in for deer season, first shot was still to right so made adjustment for second shot. Think I’m ready- 100 yards and probably won’t shoot that far. Also shot wife’s 243 and my 25-06 and didn’t need any adjustment on them.

The 30-06 build turned out OK - one shot at 95 steps with Hornady American Whitetail 150 grain.

Barrel changes seem pretty straight forward. Have you changed bolt heads for major caliber changes?

Don't know why the last response I typed out didn't get posted but oh well. Anyway. Minor changes in caliber seem pretty straight forward with these rifles. How hard is it to change out the bolt head for major caliber changes. Say from .384 to .570?

It’s not difficult to replace at all. Remove the BAS & bolt handle, the firing assembly guts. Push out the bolt head retaining pin. Swap out the Ejector/Extractor, and everything back. May not have very good lug contact, but it should work. Sometimes, machining is necessary. However, this is not often from my experience.

However, fitting the bolt head is least of your concerned when you are inquiring about going from 223 to a WSM/SAUM cartridge.

Sorry, forgot this is for an Axis. Read the sticky about changing to a magnum bolt head with the Axis. It is not a simple swap.
