Hey Guys.
I live in South Texas. Have hunted since I was a boy. My mom recently passed away and I received her Savage 24B 22/410 over/under. The gun is all wood stock and barrel grip. Has a right-side button to choose barrel. Doesn't have any lettering after 24B. My question is how do I determine if it shoots a 22LR or a 22 Mag? I appreciate any knowledgeable responses. Thanks so much.

Welcome friend. Sorry for your loss.

Other than looking down the chamber to identify, I don’t have an answers to different. Obviously a 22LR will have a shorter chamber before the rifling.

22 over .410 was probably the most popular version of that model. 22 magnums were always over a 20 ga. barrel.

From what I can find, the 22WMR/410 were paired together as well.

I wouldn’t assume. Would check it first. While a 22LR going through a WMR chamber ain’t the worst thing… it could cause damage.

.22M is a couple hairs bigger and should not chamber in a normal .22LR chamber.
