I was wondering if anyone has rebarrel their savage
12 lrp with a 6br or 30 br..
Since I'll be using the target action I wasnt sure if just changing
The barrel would still have great result with reloads

No reason not to expect great results if barrel is installed properly and good load development work done.

The LRP action will not hold you back. I keep thinking that when I burn out my .243 barrel it's going to get replaced with a 6BR.

Competition or fun shooting? If just for fun the 6BR is more flexible in range.

Here is some reading for you.

30 br is a great SHORT RANGE TARGET ROUND
6br is a great round past 600 but falls short of a TARGET round at 1000
6bra is better and can do quality 1000 TARGET SHOOTING
decide what your goal is.
6 and 6bra brass is available
30 br must be made from 6br
6bra can be made from 6br
distance will decide what bullet, which will decide what twist
i made mine into a target 308,,,,,,just over 1/4 moa at 300

Well I shoot competitively locally in nbrsa 6ppc , I was leaning towards the 6bra cause I have the powder for it.
Since I shoot for groups with 6ppc I was thinking for fun i would shoot for score on my own time which i would choose the 30br. The drawback to the 30br is the wait time to get a barrel.
I will be mostly shootn 100 n 200 yards
The wait time on a 12 twist 6mm barrel is 2 weeks...

I would incline towards the 6. I think your accuracy potential is greater for nothing more than it’s a smaller bullet. Also, if you’re like I was, I got to where I noticed the difference in recoil from the .22ppc to 6ppc that I avoided sporter class. Not that it’s hard recoil, but it just wasn’t as much fun. The 30 cal would be that much more.

Fun project. Let us know how it turns out!

6br will not impress you after shooting a 6ppc
6bra is a long range round not 100/200 score
more like 13, 13.5 for 100/200 not 12 for br
for score 30 br is THE round.
17/18 twist 110-118 bullets
berger 115 is a very good production bullet
lt30 and h4198 205/205m primers
i shoot 6ppc. 30 br, 6br and 6 dasher
bench rest, bench rest, pdogs, 600/1000 br in that order

Chamber up the 30br, get a fist full of Bart Sauters bullets, and find yourself a UBR match.
Best score game going. Shooting one this Saturday in Unlimited.

6br

THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO OF YOU THAT DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT WHILE THE
6PPC IS THE MOST ACCURATE CARTRIDGE in short range br , THE SECOND MOST ACCURATE IS THE 30BR.

opinions are nice but facts count

I have rebarrel my model 12 to a 6 br using a 1-8 twist 4 groove to shoot 105 class bthp From 600 to 1000 yards with success, a 6 br damn sure won’t hold you back despite what others have said.

in spite of the OPINION of some, at the 2021 long range nationals there FIFTYTHREE dashers and bra's....not one rifle identified as a 6br.
in spite the claims of others the 6br is just short of competitive level at 1000 yards in the benchrest world
they op clearly sated he shoots br
just saying stay in context and on topic facts work better than opinions

the poorly attended 2022 nbrsa nationals had four 6brs...NONE FINISHED IN THE TOP 10.
there were only 25 shooter in lite gun, in 2021 ibs had over SIXTY shooters in lite)

I’ve had good luck from 600 to 1000 yards with a straight six br. No problem at all and yes the extra capacity of the Ackley is nice to have and I do have one but the long range br is still a tuners and conditions game.

Well I do enjoy my older benchrest rifle it has a Hall action with a Bartlein barrel.
I just wanted swap one of my 6,5 creedmoors to another caliber.
I will only be shooting 200 min and 400 max.
The reason I was thinking of 6bra was the wait time was less and the barrel was only 330.00 or so chambered.
I really do like the tune and pretty much forget it 30br. I would love to find the node and just load em up and shoot.
My 6ppc gives me enough temp problems for me to figure out in match day lol

Anyone know of a place for a barrel that dont break the bank...
Www.urbanrilfleman.com is the cheapest but he dont have a reamer or .30cal barrels

welll now you threw a monkey wrench in the story.
30 br is great at to 300, 400 is unknown territory, heavy bullet small case
doing an 8 twist bra or dasher is over kill in my opinion and not known short range rounds
i would do the 30 br, pay for a good bbl...30br bbls last well over 6000 rounds...so it is cheap in the long run.
ya need to set some criteria and then buy to match.....

My answer on the 30br still stands. However for the ranges you mentioned, Look up
"Tack Driver 2" This is a 300 meter match that the top dogs have gravitated to. Bullet
maker Bart Sauter won it with his 6bra and Dave Way was just a few spots down. Looking
over the roughly top 20, More then half used the 6ppc, and maybe 2 used a 30br. I just
shot with Jeff gates at our first UBR match of the year. This one was just at 100 yards.
Jeff won it hands down with his 30br 4 points above the closet 6ppc. UBR is a score
match. I will note that these guy's are the best flag readers in the business.
