Is the built in Aluminum rail on a Savage Model 12 FT-R in .308 an M-LOK rail? I've had trouble finding attachments for this rail because it doesn't appear to be any specific standard. I want to get a nice bipod for it, however I want to be assured it will fit before I commit to $$$$.

I really like this Magpul Bipod, and while it looks like it will fit in the M-LOK configuration, I'm not sure. (The A.R.M.S. 17 S Style also looks like it will fit). I don't understand why Savage put this kind of oddball rail on this rifle? For those of you shooting a stock Savage 12 FT-R, what type of bipod are you running? Thanks in advance.

NO, there is no attachment rail on the stock. It’s a laminate stock & uses the standard sling stud for the bipod. The M-Lok bipod you want won’t work on it. If you want the Magpul Bipod, this one will work. https://www.amazon.com/Magpul-Rifle-Bipod-Sling-Earth/dp/B0812C1DH4/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=2UK5TZBLQTR12&keywords=M-lok%2Bbipod%2Badapter&qid=1650285953&sprefix=m-lok%2Bbipod%2Badapter%2Caps%2C43&sr=8-2-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE0UFNNTzY5REM4RTEmZ W5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAyOTc2MzExNEtPTEZJTjE3Mk80JmVuY3J 5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA3NzY0NzIyWU9QMkMzMU0zUThJJndpZGdld E5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm9 0TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1

No. It has a rail, and does NOT use a standard sling swivel.

That is refereed to as a UTI rail, same as an Anschutz. accessory rail.

Also known as an Atlas rail. You can buy 3 - 5 -and 7 slot picatinny rail sections that attach to it.
I have a few of them mounted on the Atlas rails on my Choate Tactical stocks.

Yes, I’m sorry. Didn’t realize they were putting those in. Yeah, the Anschuts T-rail. BLAH! About the worst of the rails, as far as supporting rails/adapters for it. Don’t know why they went with those.

You need one of these or the like, and then you can use the Magpul Picatinny Bipod.

They used an Anschutz rail because there are more accessories that fit it than any other.

@billt

Would you happen to know the width of the rail on your F-TR? I'm in the same boat and not sure what type of mount to order. They come in different widths and I'm not sure whether to measure inside the rail or overall width? Thanks.

What mount do you want? It’s basically 1/2”, but not about size. It’s style. It’s an Anschutz rail.

This is Anschutz to Picatinny.

This one is Anschutz to Stud for if you wanted to go with a standard Harris bipod.

Or this one.

Here is Anschutz to Arca Swiss

There are two rail systems. The Freeland has a following also. So there are choices if you don't like the Anschutz. I think I have a Stockade with a Freeland on it.

To the OP, I don't know what kind of shooting you are doing but if you are planning on trying FTR you might consider a bipod made for supporting that weight rifle and that type of shooting.
