Was looking for a rifle in 223 to use for coyote control on the homestead.
Pawn shop up the road had this Axis on the shelf so I brought it home.
This will be my first Axis rifle and I am hoping it shoots as well as my three Trophy Hunters do.
Shots won’t be past 200 yards max on the place so I’m hoping not having the accu trigger is an issue.
Camo wasn’t a must but just happened to be the one that was available.
Cleaned it and torqued the screws on the scope mount.
Will start with some light loads to see how that goes.

I’ve got other scopes I can use but will try it out with the bargain basement Weaver scope that came mounted on it.

Anybody got any recommendations for Nosler bullets in this rifle?

It will quite effectively down coyotes with the same merit as your Trophy Hunters. That said, the 110 Actions are still favorable.

Purchased a Trophy Hunter in 270 and was amazed after I put it close on paper, the first group with my reloads put 5 shots at .27”. A fluke for sure knowing how I normally shoot but still amazed with a $375 scope/rifle combo.

If I can keep this one at 1.5” it will do what I want at the distances I shoot.

I just fired my Axis .223 HB again this morning. 77gn SMK's still print little groups. One was 5 rounds into 1" and the other 10 rounds into 0.75" at 200yd. It would shoot almost as well with the factory stock and scope. I like to shoot the mini soda cans at 300yd or a 5" steel plate at 600yd. I installed and bedded a Boyd's stock and got a Vortex Diamondback 16x on sale one day. It has 4000 rounds through it.

They are a great value, especially if you get them on sale.

FWIW, it even shoots the cheap bullets into 1" at 100yd.

60gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and 60gr Hornady V-Max bullets combined with 24gr of H4895 shoot fantastic in my Axis.

That’s an axis 1. No accu triggger on that model. Our axis 1 came with a very heavy trigger. We had to invest $40 into a trigger spring kit to make it more comfortable for my daughter to shoot.

Nope. Rifle Basix trigger.

I have two Axis rifles, one 30-06 for several years and the other 6.5 Creedmoor since Dec. 2019. Both will shoot 1/2 MOA or better. I think you'll be happy with the purchase, original trigger is OK for me but YMMV.

62 grain Nosler Varmageddon flat base HP shoots VERY well in my 110 Storm .223.
