A friend of mine found this old shotgun in his woods while out cutting firewood and he gave it to
me to see if I could save it. Believe it or not, it functions quite well after a little cleaning and oiling.
It just looks rough.

Questions I have.
Were the receivers on these just painted? It's not blued.
Is there anything else I can use on the barrel besides cold blueing?

Thank you for the help!

Well since this gun is only worth about $100 I decided to do as little as necessary to
make it look respectable. That is: do nothing to the receiver, stock looks good enough for a hardwood stock.
But, the barrel. It still needs a little work and I might just spray paint it black.

Try oxphoblue but heat the metal up it works great. I did my dads 311d roughly 15 years ago and it still looks good.

thats 4 or 5 coats I. Not 100% sure it’s been about 15 years.
