Savage Model 24D

Hi, first post. Acquired the 24D at a gun show. It has wood stock, tang barrel release, no cross bolt safety and barrel selector on the hammer. Question is; Is there a manual safety? Can only think of putting barrel selector between the two positions, is that correct?

The Savage 24 models (including 24D) don't have a safety button as such. The "safety" is simply not cocking the gun, whether with a barrel-selector button on older models (including the Savage 24 predecessor Stevens "Model 22-410") or the newer spur hammer selector such as your gun has.
