Bolt issue on used 110

Hello, I am new on this forum. I recently purchased a used 110 which I believe was made around 1990. The gun is in good condition and appears to function correctly, but the bolt handle sticks out from the stock and doesn't fit into the stock recess. It has a synthetic stock and I suspect someone had replaced the stock or bolt. How can I determine if the parts are correct?

I am not able to post a picture at this time. The bolt sticks out at a 45 degree angle and sounds like the same issue listed in an old post labeled Old 116 Bolt issue. I did take the gun apart to clean it so I will try the suggestion on that post.

The bolt handle should be sticking out at a 45*. It should not be at 90*.
Is the cocking pin on the right side of the bolt when installing into the receiver. Is the cocking piece in the cocked position when installing the bolt into the action.

That wss my first thought also it may also be over tightened, making the extra length of the screw to hit the bolt head. The old wood stocks had a plastic estucean bushing and these would distort and crush when the action screw was over tightened.

I usually custom cut my action screws just to be safe. I recently bought a brand new .338 Lapua 112 Magnum Target and all 3 action screws only had 3-4 turns on the threads. I've owned dozens of Savages over the decades and this is the worst I've ever seen, especially for a .338 Lapua.

If removing or backing off the front action screw doesn't allow you to fully close the bolt, try doing the same with the 2nd scope base screw(2nd closest one to the barrel).
