I bought this savage model 11 used off the shelf at my local gunstore, stricktly because it was too cheap to pass up. I ordered and new stock and bottom metal for it and im in the process of getting everything fit up and im a little confused about the bolt that's in this gun. I tried calling savage but its saturday and they're closed so i figured I'd give this a try.

Everything i can find points to this being a model 11 except the bolt. Maybe im just misunderstanding this but it seems to have an axis bolt in the gun.

Even the bolt spacing is correct for a model 11

Any input is welcome.

It has the new style firing pin, the current short action screw spacing...

This.
Savage decided to do away with the former heavy firing pin design and used the design of the Axis firing pin, but with dimensions that fit the 10/110 models. The large spring has gone away. Some people are having fail to fire issues but I don't think it is a big problem. One would think the lighter pin accelerates as fast using a cheaper, smaller, weaker spring more prone to FTF would be a show stopper for the engineering team though.

I didnt know they swapped out the old style firing pin. Thats where i was getting confused. The only ones I've seen with that new style was the axis series and since this was a used gun i didnt know if someone had stuck the wrong parts in it. Thanks alot for clearing that up for me guys, i really appreciate it!
