Now, my first "disclaimer" is loading for a 70gr .223 bullet for a MV of roughly 1,000fps is NOT for the faint of heart. I've just worked up a load using 6.0gr of TrailBoss powder, CCI Magnum primers, and Speer 70gr Semi-Spitzer bullets. Now, I also tried Sierra and Nosler boat tail's...but the boat tails hit the target sideways....and ALWAYS shoot several initial attempts of subsonic to insure they are flying straight, and not unstable when leaving the barrel. A hit on a suppressor baffle can ruin your day...month...year?

Now, I initially worked these loads up shooting at 50 yards....with My Savage .223 M10 LE Carbine. But a recent high wind day took out the 50 yard target hanger at my local gun club....so I shot these at 100 yards. (It's odd that I did several searches of 223 subsonic groups and nobody post them!!) Also, when I initial worked this up I used non-mag primers, but the "group" was a good 8". Not very good.

This group was a respectable (IMHO) 3.5" without the flyer, and 5" including the flyer. Now, I plan on running the load over a chronograph and see if I need to bump up the charge so the bullet will fly consistently just below the "magic" 1,050fps. Now, I've also read many other forums post that a .223 subsonic is "no better" than a 22LR. Well...run the energy numbers and you will see that's not true. Plus...my .223 barrel is suppressor ready as opposed to most 22LR. Anyway...here's pics:
