Welcome.

How old is she and what type of hunting would she be doing?

She is 14 yrs old. It will be used for coyote and whitetail deer.

Personally I think the Lady Hunter in 243 with the walnut stock is a perfect choice for her. Got one a few years ago in 6.5 Creedmoor for my grandson. It shot less than 1" groups with Hornady factory ammunition.
Great rifle!

Welcome. Any mid range caliber will work nicely. 6mm-30cal. Which Whitetail will you be going for? Something like the 90lb. Coues Whitetail (The Grey Ghost), in the South West? Or the 200, 300, even 400lb species in other regions? While 243/6mm will Kill anything, some “may” feel under-gunned. Also, is recoil a concern? And of course, your preferred budget

Try to keep the recoil at a minimum. If you reload, use starting loads for something like the Hornady 87 gr VMAX (https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1010925549?pid=691210#reviews).

Repeating the thought, an accurate reduced load will do everything she needs to do for both coyote and deer. The price is low enough that she can use the same load for plinking, rabbits, squirrels etc. and become very proficient.

At some point, she will want a load with a bit more pizzazz and will have been bit by the reloading bug. She will probably do it all for you at that point.

Last, if using factory ammo, choose something in the 80-90 gr range with a good reputation for deer harvesting. The load will do well for anything smaller.

Either way, encourage her to stay with a single bullet and load load until she becomes very proficient with it. After that, she will have the skill and knowledge needed to make even better choices.

Welcome. Yes. Do it..

Savage is a reliable shooter. .243 will do the job if you accept the limitations.

Welcome to the group. I used a 243 for many years here in Georgia and loaded Hornady 87 gr BTHPs. I never lost a deer. With a neck shot, it was bang, flop.
