Just bought an older Stevens 325C in 30-30. There is no seriel number or id number other than "Stevens 325C".

Gun shoots well, all things considered.

Where to find more information on these models?

Any spec sheets etc?

Ther bolt is very different than the other Stevens/Savages I've seen, what type is it?

The barrel appears to screw into the action with the same barrel nut set-up as a newer model, will a modern barrel thread into this action?

The sights are simmilar to those on a Marlin .22, are there any other/aftermarket iron sights I can use on this gun?

Thanks for any help, Matt.

the barrel threads are different. the bolt is different. they are pre serial number guns.

340 is a similar gun as is the 840.

try some of the new pointy Hornaday leverlution ammo.

Sights, you will have to watch the auction sites for a peep sight. they screwed to the left side of the action if it is drilled and taped.

Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone make a barrel that will work?

My action has two screws at the very rear of the action on the left side, are these threaded bosses for a peep sight?

Those two holes in the reciever rear are morethan likely for a peep sight. Check the Lyman and Williams websites, there just might be a peep available that will fit. Many old rifles were drilled and tapped for peep sights using the same mounting hole distance. Measure that so you have it when you do your search.

I'd be happy with that out of this rifle. Still cleaning the barrel, almost through an entire bottle of copper solvent and the patches are still coming out green.

try foam. brass from a cleaning rod or ends can also give false readings

This is about a 1.5" group at 80 yards.

Went to the range today with a box of Remington 150grn Core-Locts.

Not a great group but somewhere to start.

Went to the range this morning with some Hornady Leverevolutions, 100 yards.

Thanks. Fortunately we have a year before hunting season to work up some hand loads and get some more practice in. Would like to tighten the group up as much as possible but like you said, it's definitely minute of deer.

Having a blast with this old project rifle.
