I'm wanting to build a light weight coyote rifle in 6x45. I'm thinking a 20" barrel but can't decide on the twist. I would be shooting 58-90 grain bullets (more likely the 87vmax on the top end) and can't find any solid answers on a 1-10, 1-9, or 1-8. Anyone have any experience? Thanks

JBM stability calculator. You'll need to know how fast you want to push them,
and length of "longest" bullet. If you don't know the length, JBM has a pull down
list you can reference. Hornady's 4DOF calculator will work also, but I prefer JBM
first. And don't worry about looking up the shorter bullets. It's always the longest
bullet to properly figure twist rate.

I built a 6x45 with a 10T 3R 24" MGM/Preferred Brand barrel, shoots the 58g Vmax and the 70g TNT very well. Sub MOA at 200 yds is the norm. Haven't tried anything heavier in it yet.

If you are sticking to sub 90gr bullets then a 9 twist should be fine. But if you ever want to venture up to the 100+ heavies then I would get the 8 twist.

i think i would not look at the heavies(90) and stop at mid 70's...58 to 72 or so
the case is not built for heavies

I have one and went with 8 twist, not so much for heavy ~90 grain. It is planning for current and future solid copper and other alloys in the same weights, This is to keep the option to use long for caliber in 70 to 80 grains. Hammer bullets come to mind.

Must be something in the water with this 6x45 talk. [emoji1]

I have a CF 9 twist on order from X-Caliber. I have a glut of 70-85’s. A 10 or even a 12 would probably work. Really looking forward to its arrival.

1:9 twist was the right call.
