I was just looking at my new MKII FV as I have it all stripped for cleaning and waiting for my new stock. I am planning on pillar bedding and receiver bedding so I have been reading through all the posts I can find on this and I just noticed and confirmed with my manual that I dont have a recoil lug. At least it is not listed, although there is what I would guess to be a recoil lug mounted just past the trigger assy. See the picture. Any ideas or help before I start bedding would be appreciated. Can anyone else with a Mark II verify this???? ??? Just want to clarify before I start bedding.

Your recoil lug is right in from of the magazine housing.

What you got is the new "E" reciever, it is very different than the old style.

That is one of the mounting pillars, well semi-mounting pillars as it still mates with the stock. So looking at my stock inletting which I unfortunately bought the FV (plastic version) I am assuming that the rear lug is the recoil one as I see no other purpose for it and the stock is inletted behind it similar to a forward one. Just seems strange as there is a dovetail on the barrel for one.

Ignore the dovetail. The front mounting pillar acts as the recoil lug, at least it does on the wood and laminate versions. That rear pillar is probably a recoil lug also.

After talking to Savage this morning apparently only the .22 mag's and .17 get recoil lugs in the model 93 now. But, they are sending me one free of charge. Awesome!!!

So this would lead into my next set of questions then.....Regarding Pillar Bedding and bedding the action. Typically the pillars are embedded into the stock and the recoil lug is only bedded on the rear surface how would one suggest to accomplish that with this type of setup?

Thanks to everyone!

I'd be very interested to know how you bedded your action, if you did it. I planned to bed mine (MkII FV) one day or another.
I think I'll fill the bigger holes of the plastic stock with JB Weld, then bed the action with a proper stuff.
