Who has used both? Is the NSS superior? NSS is 65$, and looks like Wheelers MSRP is more, but can be found readily for same price. Are they apples to apples?

The NSS is identical to the Wheeler, except it has a retaining screw. The NSS ends up being $83 with the barrel nut wrench. The Wheeler ends up being a few bucks more. For that, the NSS wins. As for performance. They work the same. Some might say the little screw on the NSS helps. I don’t really think it improves anything. The Wheeler has worked just fine for me, for many years.

Are we talking barrel nut wrench? Are we talking smooth nut or splined?

Thicker is good.

My mistake, I was talking about action wrench, not nut wrench

Yeah, get the NSS. It’s cheaper and works the same. The little locater screw the NSS uses is a nice touch, albeit not necessary.
