Gents,
Need some tips, I have an 1895 Savage that at one point in time was re-barreled to 30-30. I have since found a .303 Savage barrel with the correct barrel address for the 1895. Just wondering if you have any tips on swapping out these barrels? What do I need to look for to make sure I don't mess this up? Thks

The 1895 does not have a barrel like other Savages we know & love. The Barrel is shouldered like most other rifles. It must be installed by a qualified Gunsmith. I know the model 99 uses a segmented barrel, which only needs a 1/4 turn to remove and replace but it needs head spaced properly. Which, without a barrel nut, means having a proper lathe. I can’t tell you I the 1895 is like the model 99 or traditionally threaded with shoulder. (But I believe it’s the latter.) Information is scarce online. Too much Winchester & Marlin 1895 stuff, LOL! I think your option, without the know how, is a Gunsmith.
