I'm new to doing this stuff online and too old to get a grip on what I'm doing, so please be nice and don't laugh too much.
I’m lost and need help
Good morning,

I inherited two rifles and a ton of ammo. I’m hoping someone can help me out. The first is a Savage model 25 17Hornet, the second is a Savage Model 93R17 Cal 17 HMR. I’m not new to guns, I have several rifles and pistols, but these two new ones are screwing me up with the ammo. I’m trying to figure out what rounds goes to what rifles. Hopefully someone can help me. I’ve spent hours online and I can’t find the answer.

The ammo:

Winchester Varmint HE 17 Win Super Mag, 25 grain rimfire
HSM 17 Fireball, 20 grain Hornady V-Max
17 grain HMR V-Max
17grain V-Max Mach2

Welcome.

Not sure what you are asking exactly. The two rifles are 17 Hornet & 17 HMR, which is 22 Mag necked down. You have the 17 HMR, but no 17 Hornet. The other calibers you listed will not fit either rifle.

Winchester Varmint HE 17 Win Super Mag, 25 grain rimfire
This is for 17 Super Magnum caliber, another rimfire cartridge, which is NEITHER of your rifles
HSM 17 Fireball, 20 grain Hornady V-Max
This is for 17 Fireball caliber, a centerfire, which is NEITHER of your rifles
17 grain HMR V-Max
This IS for your 17 HMR rifle
17grain V-Max Mach2
This is for 17 Mach 2 caliber, a rimfire, which is NEITHER of your rifles
