Its the same case as used for a 243, which has been used to kill countless deer with bullets lighter than 120 grains.

I was going to respond with something a little more in depth but I think you covered it Yobuck. I like the 140's but the 120s do the job.

That would be my choice as well for a 7 08 but then that wasent his question.
It is hard sometimes to not inject our own opinions though isnt it? lol

I think the question is more along the lines if the construction of the 120HP bullet is up to the task for shooting deer, or is it a thin jacket varmint bullet?

I would think that even a varmint bullet will work on whitetail.

I guess the answer might be that any cartridge is if you choose it to be.

that is what i was trying to ask. im sure its up to the task just wondering if anyone has used it personally. i use my 404 Jeffery for all my varmint hunting lol

I don't consider it one, but, you can get 'varmint' loads for a .308 (110gn) so why not in a 7-08?

I would guess a 120SP bullet would be for bigger stuff. HP bullets (except the full copper ones) are usually thinner jackets for target or varmint. Hence my take on the question.
