Hello, first post here...

I inherited a Savage 110-C from my grandfather. The rifle itself, honestly, is a piece of junk. The barrel was bent and subsequently straightened. The stock looks like someone fitted the recoil pad with a chainsaw. It never shot very well, and it's sitting in the back of the safe for years.

I am considering throwing away everything but the action and doing a build off of that. I've looked in the forum as well as on line and find that getting a stock for a 110-C is not going to be easy.

The rifle is originally in 270 Winchester. I am not a fan of that caliber and would prefer something in 30. My current thoughts are either 30-06 or 300 Win Mag.

The popular barrels when I was doing more rifle shooting were Douglas and ER Shaw.

Is this a reasonable thing to do? Can the detachable magazine part be changed to an internal affair? Should I talk to Savage CS about that or someone else?

I am looking for comments, guidance and suggestions.

Thank you

Are you sure it isn't a 340-c? They had detachable magazines.

the 110-c is a clip feed 110, not 340, they have a release button for the clip on the right side of the stock.
Dose it by chance also say " Series J " ? Had a LH premier clip feed that UPS broke the stock when shipped for a sale. only found one stock to repair it, Cost UPS $550- to fix a $350-

You may want to check with Boyds for a stock. They list a 111 side mag release, I believe it will fit the 110c. I take it yours has the flat back receiver, I have a 111c and a 110c both are flat back receivers and side mag release button, the 111c came with a synthetic stock and the 110c has the wood stock. I bought a Boyds for the 111c for a build I did and have since changed it back to the synthetic with a 243 barrel so my grandkids could use it. My son shot a black bear with it a couple years ago and now says its his, so I bought the 110c to replace the action in case I want to put the build back together. Have not tried the 110c in the Boyds yet but can't see why it won't work.

I would call Boyds and talk to them about it, they have a lot of styles available and the AT-1 is adjustable for fit.

Also there are a few 30-06 and other caliber take off barrels if you don't want to get into a bunch of money.

I bought a 110C for $130 on Gunbroker that just happened to be from a local pawn shop.. saved on shipping and transfer. :) The stock was busted in half but all the parts were there. I turned it into a blind mag using a Boyd's laminated stock and hunting down the blind mags parts off ebay of all places. Turned into a beautiful rifle. I sold all the detachable magazine parts to someone on the forum which covered the cost of the blind mag parts. Go for it!
