Two Spare Actions, Thinking 257 Roberts and 35 Whalen

I have T&T’d Savage LA former 270 win and and Rem 700 270 win action from late 70’s.

Which action would be best for the Roberts, then Whalen?

I’d probably put the Rem on a Joel Russo stock, then a SSS Monte Carlo Sporter for the Savage action. Both with 22” barrels unless there is a reason for longer. Both will be used sparingly but would consume available actions.

I would base it on which has the longer mag for the longer .35 whelen cartridge? and the roberts I would Ackley

But first…..Anyone know if a LA 116 30.06 ships with a longer factory mag than a 270 win 111 or the same? With Bartlein and SSS help I converted the 116 30.06 to a 270 win. So if the 30.06 box is longer I’ll just rebarrel that one to a Whalen.

As for covering the bases, with 257 and a 35 as bookends I’ll stop there and learn golf.

Well since Whelen is based on the 06 case, How about expanding your
bookmarks out to 375 Whelen ??

If I'm going to walk several pastures it will be with a rifle in hand rather than a club chasing a ball!
I get so frustrated playing golf I will walk off the course. I've never been frustrated with a rifle in hand...just sayin'....

Thanks, guys. I am unfamiliar with a 375, sounds worthy though.

Mid/long term I need to find a needy migrant family like I told my crestfallen elementary school aged son when he asked me how I was going to distribute all my outdoor stuff after the big transition. Adulthood and video games took the place of that concern.

A set of clubs will be included.
