I honestly think my little Axis is as accurate as my much higher priced Model 12 heavy barrel. I was unhappy with it the way it didn't seem to shoot the lighter bullets well but I was trying to seat them very close to the lands. I seat everything at 2.26" OAL length now and it shoots them just fine. I am pretty sure the gun is more accurate than I am but 3/8-3/4" is about what I normally do, most often 1/2" to 5/8". I think with a good marksman it could consistently below 1/2" but I am not the best. For $300 and nothing done to it except a varmint trigger from a 110 trigger and adding a little weight to make it more stable I think it is pretty good value. These bullets I am shooting now are also about 2/3 of the cost of what I thought I had to have to shoot accurately before I changed the OAL on everything.

I have 2 Axis rifles, and I love them both. My first in 30-06 that shoots 1/2" groups at 100 yards, and my newest in 6.5 Creedmoor and it shoots smaller groups at about 3/8" at 100 yards.

I really like my little Axis with a heavy barrel (Walmart special .223). Over 4000 rounds now and still more accurate than I am.

My Axis was originally a 243 package rifle. The weaver scope went belly up a month after I bought the rifle so replaced it with a Nikon I had. Rifle is now a 450 Bushmaster hog buster.

Mine looks a lot more business like now days, with a Boyd's stock and Vortex Diamondback scope. But, it is still a tack driver. I haven't been taking it out as much as I should. Since I have enough primers for it I need to get it out more. It is really fun at the 600yd line.

I have 2 Axis rifles. A regular Axis in .308, and an Axis II Precision in 6.5 creedmoor. The .308 is a work in progress. Took me a while to figure out where the sweet spot was for weight and seating depth, but last time I took it out, it was about 3/4” with some 150 grain Hornady SP Interlocks, which is by far the best I’ve ever seen it shoot. The Axis II Precision is the most accurate rifle I’ve ever shot. And that includes Christiansen Arms, Bergera, and any other more expensive rifle. I have not found a weight or charge it doesn’t shoot well. With the cheapest factory ammo I have, it’s 1/2” or better at 100. With my hand loads, if I can do my job, it’s less than 1/4”.

With all the success i guess i will try to stop bashing them. Inexpensive is a good thing. I sold mine due to the trigger. With the new Jard and adding a stock i guess I could satisfy my standards. I remember the old Stevens for 175 and even 225. That was a bargain.

Yep, the trigger is a bit of a chore. Mine still shoots 1/2MOA with the stock trigger. I may have to consider an upgrade :)

You might just want to try the varmint spring for a 110. That's all I did to mine. Supposed to go down to 1 1/2 but it is a little lighter in the Axis than that. I would like to get a little lighter but it shoots pretty well as is. The original wasn't bad on mine, around 4# and no creep or very little. Of course, I have never had an aftermarket trigger to compare it to either. I like to get by as cheaply as possible.

On my 110 I replaced the trigger with a Rifle Basix, but on both my Axis’, I just replaced the springs with the varmint trigger springs. With the accu-trigger adjusted all the way down and the lighter trigger springs, I get about a 1lb pull.

The only thing I did to my Axis Compact was a Rifle Basix trigger. It was just under $100 and took about 10 minutes start to finish to install.

I got a savage axis in 270 win. do you think a Yukon moose will bicker on how it dropped with an axis rather than a $2,000 setup?

I would say most hunters look for the best bang for buck. My first rifle choice for hunting back in the 80's was a 7mm-08 in a Rem788. Cheap. Accurate. Tough as nails. Ugly :)

And it had a Tasco scope in cheap mount/rings. They also lasted a long time and withstood some hard knocks.

Took my Axis II Precision out today to do a little seating depth test. It was already shooting sub MOA at .020 off the lands, but I wanted to see if it would tighten up a bit. At .035 off the lands it shot a 5 shot group at .29”. Think I’ll stop there.

Congrats. I find Match Kings like to further from the lands than most. Bergers I have fired like to be engaged with the lands.

I'm relatively new to the Axis line. I've got an Axis II in .223. So far, I have to say I'm thrilled with it. I've only been shooting at 50 yards, but it's been impressive.
