It seems the most accurate bullet in my 22-250 is the relatively cheap Speer 52 grain HP Varmint bullet. This is encouraging, since it is one of to the cheaper bullets you can shoot. I have had pretty good luck with the other Speer bullets too. In the 243 the 75 grain HP varmint bullet isn't quite as accurate as the Nosler 70 grain but it is pretty close and costs a lot less money. The 52 grain seems to work very well in the 223 Remington 783 but I have yet to try it in the Axis. I am hoping for similar results.

a bullet to consider for both cost and accuracy is the hornady
50 and 55 vmax, and the cousin the green tipped zmax

Tried 2 Speer bullets in 243 win, ok for the price.

There are a lot of choices in the lighter bullets. I remember an older article (80's) about benchrest shooting and they were using 'plain' Remington 55gn soft points to shoot groups less than 0.1"
