My savage recently started to misfire looked at the bolt advanced the firing pin and noticed the washer is pushed under the first rung of the spring and that there is some damage like scuffs on the spring. Is this a common problem and would that really effect the pin that much. Thank you all!

From my recent experience i would say yes. It seems the three piece spring set up is on the ragged edge of operation in mine. I added a preload washer to mine but I also think that replacing the center coil washer with a captured style would increase the effectiveness. My .02

Some of these fail and some do not. Don't really know the reason why.

My cheap little Walmart Axis (.223) has close to 4000 rounds through it and hasn't had a failure to fire due to the gun.

I got two failure to fires during my last range sesh this past Sunday. TBH it makes me kind of nervous bc I’ve read stories about these dud rounds going off up to 2-3 mins. I leave it in battery for about 1 min each time. Can anyone on here assure me that 1 min is long enough to be safe.

either way, I’ve got 44 rounds of 243 left. Gonna finish them off in one last range session later this month, then have my gunsmith fix this issue.
