The reason you haven’t heard much is because it was a com-block era FAILURE! Came out in the 80’s & Russia used it briefly...but just as quickly, DROPPED it! That should tell you something. Now, Wolf has resurrected it because they see a nich & are looking to make a buck. Issue here, is *some* ammunition manufacturers, in the last 7 years or so, keep telling us that somehow if you take a small case & use a REALLY heavy bullet over a tiny powder column...it makes the round “magical”! But only if it’s shot at us Subsonic speed. So because the bullets used are such high ballistic coefficient, it is stable to 500, 700.., ah hell.. a THOUSAND yards! Gimme a break. But people keep regurgitating this nonsense. Do yourself a favor a truly research ballistics. It opens one’s eyes to physical capabilities. Many years ago, researching ballistics made me stop following the SBR crowd in the AR community.

It's easy enough to overstate any round's capabilities, or limitations.

For use inside of 2-300 yards with a suppressed bolt action it definitely has potential- a 300 Blackout done right:devilish:

Yeah... you’re right on that mattri. But that’s another area I just don’t get. Suppressors.... why? Just seems mall ninja, tacti-cool to me. They wide spread popularity is a relatively NEW trend. I grew up liking the “BANG” that comes from firearms. If I’m watching a match with a shooter on the line, no one else shooting next to them, and they have a big ol’ CAN hanging off the barrel...I always wonder what the real point of it was?? Oh...especially when they are WRAPPED! Because that makes them UBER tacti-cool. I’m just having a go... Just not my thing is all. Simply my lack of understand, I know..

Dunno about backlash but I certainly appreciate the moderation in noise a suppressor brings to the table. Maybe it's 30 years in construction, maybe old age, maybe a little of both but I just don't like noise anymore. I don't even buy supersonic ammo for the 22.
And part of it is just the challange the "restriction" brings tonthe build. If you're building a mtn rifle you try to make it light, a bench gun has to ride the bags, a semi has to feed and cycle etc, making it quiet is just part of the fun.

I would say I don't see the point of the little cases in a bolt rifle. But, I do shoot a .308Win in my bolt gun instead of a .30-06 or .300Mag. And my next rifle will be a 6BR so that kinda blows the reasoning out the window :)

Suppressors I do like. I like shooting subsonic loads in my .308 just because of the low noise. I don't have any suppressors cause I don't want to pay the taxes on them. If they become, "over the counter" legal then I'd get a few.

We have a class 3 locally that works with Silencerco and they make it very simple. They also offer a "rebate" equal to your tax stamp which takes a little bit of the sting out as long as you don't think about that actual math;)

The small case is advantageous for powder selection- you aren't trying to make a "full size" case like a 308 be subsonic with all the case fill headaches.

I've always been a fan of the 7.62x39 and this is a natural evolution of that- to disparage a cartridge because it was designed on the other side of the world is beyond ignorant.
