Just registered. I found the site while researching information
I’m 47, a father and husband.
Dad bought me a used 300 savage model 99 back when I was 14 or so. This is my deer hunting gun that I still use today. Over the years I have also knocked down a half dozen moose with this rifle. Now strictly using a 300 win mag for moose.
Dad passed away 10 years ago now and I have his guns in my collection, one of which is a 300 savage model 99E series A.
Was at my gunsmith today and he was nice enough to date both of them for me. Mine is a 1953 and dads was manufactured in the early 60’s he says.
My son (who is 8) will be getting my dads savage (his grandfather he never met) when he is ready for it. It will be a few more years yet. I brought it in to my gunsmith to have new sights installed and get it sighted in. I’m 100% sure that this would put a smile on dads face.
I know it’s putting a smile on mine.
