Grandson filled his tag this morning with a good sized blacktail buck downed with the 6.5 Creedmoor.

Now see, here in the East that would be an 8 point.
I am aware of the difference in the way they count points in the West, but im not sure i understand it.

Out here we only count one side (the one with more points usually) but we don't count the eye guards either. Don't know why its done that way over here, but that's how I was taught.

Now that is only for deer... Elk we do count the eye guards, but again only one side of the rack.

Different strokes as they say...
