Hi Group-

New to the forum (but not new to Savage). I just picked up a last minute addition for a coming deer hunt. It is a Savage AXIS XP in .350. It comes with the factory Weaver scope on it (I will probably upgrade that soon, but not before deer season).

At any rate, I'd like to figure some ballistics and need the scope height. I figured I'd ask here to see if anybody knew what that was before I try to figure it out myself.

Thank you!

First off, make sure you take everything apart and properly torque all the scope mounting hardware. They are notorious for coming from the factory loose. You can easily figure out the scope height yourself. Just measure from the center of the scope bore to the center of the barrel bore. Likely to be somewhere around 1.5-2.5"

Thanks for the tips about torquing the hardware. Do you now what the specs should be? Yes, I understand that I can measure it, but I'm not near my gun and it dawned on me that somebody on the forum might know since it seems like these pre-set up guns are reasonably hot sellers.

I would go 20-25 in/lb on the bases and scope mounts and 15 in/lb on the scope rings themselves. Make sure you are getting good engagement on the base screws. Often times there is debris in the hole over the barrel that cam limit the depth.
