Thinking of ordering a Boyd stock for my Axis II, but unclear whether 350 Legend falls on short or long action side? I'm assuming short action. Which caliber defines the beginning of "long action"?

And, mine has a heavy barrel (not a bull barrel). I'm assuming that I should order stock for bull barrel, since my HB is larger diameter and might contact the forend if I ordered the standard barrel version.

Also seen discussion about trigger guard & potential issues. Where is the issue: is it on the Savage side or Boyd's side?

On Boyd's site in the notes for the stocks they give the distance between mounting screws for long and short Axis stocks. Yes on the heavy barrel.

Just get a metal trigger guard. The problem is the plastic does not hold tension well over time (at least for me). Also helps to get one of the metal magazine catches. I would plan on installing pillars and/or a 'light' bedding job.

.350 Legend is a short action round (was designed to work in AR15's after all).
