https://postimg.cc/gallery/c4MDjw3Hey guys I just bought a savage axis xp from Basspro and I was messing around with the rifle. The bottom half of the lung rotates and I’m not wondering which way is the right way or if it even matters. Here are some pictures for you guys. Thanks for all the help

Yep. They do that. If you can close the bolt in the action you have it in the correct orientation.
On the Axis, Savage just changes the trigger guard between short and long action. If you have a 270 for example you rotate the short bolt lug to the to the right side. Increases your bolt length of pull. On short action, the long lug to right side.
Just thought...that is if you are right handed and have a right hand rifle....You are not LEFT handed are you?!:pop2:
