I'm new to the Savage forum and apologize if this topic has been previously covered.

New and older Savage Axis owners may learn the hard way if pursuing scope rail change.
According to EGW site:

Savage Axis Rifles with serial numbers higher than N936371 are drilled and tapped for #8-40 screws.

Unsure what date this change was made, but serial number is best way to know what you have. I bought a Savage Axis back in Feb,2021 timeframe, and have an N898xxx serial number.

8-40 was what one would go to when the 6-48 stripped out. Now what do we do? LOL

That's still true. #8 screws are larger diameter than #6 screws. Never experienced that problem. I guess it's possible if you really bugger the receiver threads, you might be forced into #10, but at that point you'll need a competent gunsmith (or a very competent machinist with proper equipment & methods).

Unless I "missed the point" of the LOL. In that case

Are the 110s this way too?

The EGW site shows 6-48 screws for Savage Models 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 110, 200, all of which use the same rail. There was no mention of a screw size change similar to Axis in my first post above. Might want to ask this question explicitly over at the 110 forum so they can check my math.

Depends on the model and when it was made. Some have 6-48 and some have 8-40, but of course Savage doesn't bother to tell their customers which size a particular model has in most instances on their website.

The BA and FCP savages are 8-40

I am dealing with this right now. I read that the hole spacing changed, but I think I trust this forum more than random things I find on google. I have been looking online for a dovetail rail for the axis I just bought today. This is the first time in my forty years I have bought a gun without dong any research on at all. I cant find a dovetail rail for it, and when I go on amazon (last resort) I see that the listings specifically mention buying the correct one after 2021 models. I guess if its just a screw change, I can live with that. I have scres laying all over the place from other rifles and rails over the years.

Did Savage change the screw spacing??? That would make things more difficult.

If the screw spacings are the same a simple drill will allow the use of any of the rails. If you don't have 8-40 screws you can get them at TruValue hardware stores.
