View Full Version : Target Action Torque for the 3 screws

What is the best torque setting pounds for the front screw the middle screw and the back screw?? I know you always do the front screw first but what order do you torque the other screws. Thanks Russ

Sure, sure...sounds good. But if you are running an Aluminum Chassis, or your stock is Aluminum Pillar bedded or runs an Aluminum inlet... none of that really matters.

It mattered on my stock with aluminum pillars with glass bedding.

Aftermarket chassis manufactures have their own torque settings, but if you are serious you will still want to do some testing to see what is optimum for your specific set-up.

I haven't looked deeply into the issue, but the torque settings specified by MDT are much higher than those specified by Savage. Like in the 60-65 inch pounds range for front and rear.

MDT does not offer a stock for the 3 screw. However, and since I run MDT stocks, I install a
center block in the magazine well, then transfer the center hole to it. I then run 45-45-45
torqued round robin, then a final 5 inch lbs for the front screw. 45-45-50.

HS Precision recommends 65 in/lbs for their 2-screw stocks.
