Granted, this idea came to me after Nathantc’s thread here. https://www.savageshooters.com/showthread.php?69177-Drilling-into-a-HS-Precision-stock I did like the look of his mocked up set up, and I Ice wanted some more teach with my bipod for a long time. So I started on it a week ago.
I have a bunch of scrap Billet aluminum from machining projects over the years. Among the pieces, is a rather large piece of 1/2” thick 2024 T3 Aluminum. This is my favorite Aluminum. Cut a piece just over 6” and milled it to the width of a 3” Picatinny rail. Drilled/tapped the 10-24 threads for the rail screws. I then machined it a bit more narrow on the sides and had to bevel the edges because the inside of Chassis forearm was slightly dished. My original plan was to bed the Spigot in the firearm, but I later decided against, so this was actually a wasted action. Instead, I applied epoxy to the inside of the surface of the forearm & sanded it flat. Finally, I made the upper portion of the Spigot slightly convex, to give the barrel plenty of free float room.

I drilled & tapped the holes for attachment to the forearm M5-.8, as I already had some Titanium button head screws that worked perfect.

I’m quite happy with the end result. Gives me a good bit more reach with bipod, an looks pretty slick. Not that any of us care about “looks”, right guys??? (Yeah RIGHT, LOL!)
